Jim Donnelly?

Steel Mill Disappearance

Jim Donnelly went to work at the Glenbrook Steel Mill in Waiuku, New Zealand on June 21, 2004, as he always did. He's not been seen or heard from since that day almost 20 years ago, leaving behind a wife and two children. In the years since, authorities have made little progress in locating Jim or uncovering any information surrounding his disappearance.

In season 2 of Brevity Studios' podcast Guilt, host Ryan Wolf travels to Waiuku to talk with Jim's family, friends, co-workers, and local authorities to try and piece together what happened to the NZ Steel Process Engineer that day in 2004.

The Glenbrook Steel Mill takes up dozens of acres, and produces 90% of New Zealand's steel requirements. This requires the mill to be staffed with around 1,100 full-time employees and an additional 200 contractors.

During the initial investigation of Jim's disappearance, his hardhat was found on a grate near a vat of acid. Upon searching the vat, additional belongings like his palm pilot, credit card, work ID, and cash were found.

The Glenbrook Steel Mill is massive in size, with large buildings stretching hundreds of metres in length scattered throughout. The scale of the mill has made tracing Jim's steps that day an incredibly difficult task for authorities and Ryan alike.
